Set of three precision bubble levelers (tubular level), made of solid brass and mounted on metal bases. Estimated provenance: Europe, circa 1880–1910, used in surveying, precision carpentry, or scientific instrumentation.
Each unit has a cylindrical body with open longitudinal grooves that allow the internal glass tube to be visualized, filled with colored liquid (one of them, fluorescent green). The parts have variations in the finish of the base, which suggests different uses or adaptations to technical supports. The design includes turned reinforcement rings and grooved details in junction areas.
The glass tubes are inserted into the cylinder by oval openings and contain a calibrated bubble indicating horizontal level. The encapsulated liquid maintains the buoyancy of the bubble, a common technique in precision instruments from the 19th to the 20th century transition.
No manufacturer markings are visible in the images, although one of the cylinders shows possible inscription or partially worn serial number.
Highlights for auction:
Materials: Turned brass, calibrated glass, metal base possibly steel or iron.
Style: Industrial technical instruments linked to engineering, architecture or topography.
Estimated Origin: Europe.
